Vampiric Touch is a skill so it avoids Spellbreaker.
Vampiric Touch is 'stealing' health, and PS only protects against damage, which Touch doesn't deal.

lets just put it this way, if 55 didnt exist or was "nerfed" the economy would be total crap. ectos would be sky high along with all other high end items. so you would say bye-bye to your hopes of getting FOW armor. but wait since i 55, i got all 105 ectos for mine in less than 3 weeks or 3-4 runs per night. hmmm who would have thunk that ??

When I first heard of the 55 build, I couldn't understand why anyone would want to reduce their health down to 55. After more research and reading, I finally understood and made one to try out. And I have to say that I was (still am) amazed that someone came out with this build. IMO, it's not a bug or exploit. Thinking outside the box, reducing health and using the combination of the available skills, to me, that's creativity at it's best. And it would be a shame if the 55 build was removed.

My 55hp monk is the most loved in our guild.

He’s probably bought half the drok armour in the guild and decked most of them out with max gold weapons.

I for one have no qualms about having a 55hp monk and see it as a legitimate part of being a monk.

Besides, makes a welcome break from looking at everyone else health bars.

you know, i could swear i posted on this thread yesterday, but i can't find it, so who knows, maybe i didn't hit post, or maybe a mod deleted it. if that's the case, then, shrug, i don't really think i said anything delete-worthy, but some mods are more sensitive than others.

anyway, when i first looked at the invincimonk build on guildwiki, i really appreciated the sheer genius of it, and the understanding of the inner workings of the game. whoever invented the build obviously had what i call "Engine Mastery".

however, there's a difference between appreciating the design of something and being willing to use it. insert whatever metaphor you want here, but honestly, i'm not willing to use the invincimonk right now to farm. i think it's just... lame. soulless, industrial farming. the designers worked hard to take a lot of "grinding" out of the game, and the invincimonk puts it right... back... in.

Granted, I've only recently ascended and gotten to Droknar's Forge with my first character, so I still have many, many hours ahead in which to get bored enough to give the invincimonk a much more attractive sheen. Maybe it is, as Agent Smith from The Matrix says, "inevitable".

I mean, I can see how, for PVE-only players, farming winds up being "half the game" in your mind, or "one third" for those who also PVP.

But I think you're giving rise to one fallacy, and that is in thinking that the game's worthiness to play must stretch on as long as possible, or to infinity (and beyond!). There comes a time when a game just isn't fun anymore, when you've done almost everything there is to do, and it's OK to quit at that point. It's OK to put down a game and move on. People act like that's anathema, like it's blasphemous, but really, it's just part of the cycle. You find a new game to play. It's OK. Really.

So, if farming was somehow magically completely removed, and players cycled out of GW faster, would that be a travesty? It would shorten the overall total longevity/life cycle of the game, perhaps, but that's the game retailer's problem, not the player's. Would it have somehow empirically reduced the enjoyment you got out of the game? Not really.

Really, I think, for me, part of the reason people look down on farmers is not because the build is easy or hard, or because it's mindlessly repetitive and just takes time, or even because of the few scammers that get into UW groups and then go solo after the party dies. It's because alot of those same farmers turn around and look down on the rest of the community, acting like they're somehow better because they're rich, which they got by spending hours mindlessly drilling the same mobs over and over to get fictional pieces of equipment with a build they didn't even invent.

So, yeah.

This is scamming and If I was pt leader, I would ask if there a 55hp monk and take screenshots of them saying no, then if they were wolf in sheeps clothing, take latter screenshots and turn them in.

I have not trouble with a 55hp monk in the party as long as I know about it before we leave.

How is it easy to pull off? Because there are so many idiots using the builds and from the looks of it using it just fine. I never said there were no good ones, I infact said there were good ones, but that does not outweigh the fact that among the good there is a sea of utter crap that knows how to hit buttons, hell most of the 55 farm spots could be done by a monkey who knew which buttons to press. Healing breeze, prot spirit, healing breeze, bonetti's, etc... I see no skill required in this. Timing might be argueable sure, but even idiots can learn to time something, eg when farming trolls its not hard to realise not to chain spells. Same for Aatxe.

That is the problem with this build, it takes little skill to use so I suppose everyone is awesome at it.

Its hard to find decent ones because they are busy farming on their own, why the hell would anyone look for one? I prefer real PvE teams that don't include something that will die when a necro or mesmer farts on it.
